Fort Valley, GA- Arthur Hattaway, 95, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 14, 2018 at his residence. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 2:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel with interment following in the First Baptist Church of Centerville Cemetery. The visitation for family and friends will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 from 1:00 – 2:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX 75231.
Arthur was born on July 7, 1923 in Macon, GA to the late Frank and Avie (Lucas) Hattaway. He was a charter member of Westside Baptist Church. Arthur was a hard working and caring man. He worked as a farmer with Bateman and Company until his retirement. Arthur loved his family and always put them before himself. He enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and working in his yard. In addition to his parents, Arthur was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Hilda (Johnson) Hattaway, his sisters, Ruth (Hattaway) Ford, Doris (Hattaway) Lacey and his brothers, John, Robert, James and Albert Hattaway.
Left to cherish his memory is his brother, Claude Hattaway of Centerville; sister: Margaret (Hattaway) Rouse of Centerville; numerous nieces and nephews, which included Eric and Monica Johnson, who cared for him the last few years of his life; his very special great-nephew and great-niece: Zackary and Cooper Johnson.
