Obituary for James Leon Stephens
Lizella, GA- James Leon Stephens, 93, went to his heavenly home on Monday, December 17, 2018 at his daughter’s home in Lizella, GA. Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Friday, December 21, 2018 at 12:00 pm at Burpee-Scott Memorial Chapel. Interment will immediately follow in Magnolia Park Cemetery. The visitation for family and friends will be held one hour prior to the services. Reverend Mike Slade will be officiating. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Second Baptist Church, 2504 Moody Rd., Warner Robins, GA 31088.
James was born on June 15, 1925 in Charlotte, NC to the late L.D.and Etta (Cox) Stephens. He faithfully and honorably served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He continued his service as an Electronics Technician at Robins Air Force Base as a civil service employee until his retirement. James was a very faithful and devoted member of Second Baptist Church. He enjoyed working crossword puzzles, watching wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy and when he was able camping with his family. In addition to his family, James was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sara (Ritchie) Stephens.
Left to cherish his memory is his daughter, Carla Aldridge (David) of Lizella; step-children: Dianne Johnson (Mike), Stan Stanford (Judith) and Edward Stanford; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and his brother, Oren Stephens (Claudia) of Cumming, GA.
