Obituary for Monty Winge

Kathleen, GA -Mr. Monty George Winge, age 59, of Kathleen, died Monday, October 29, 2018, in Navicent Health in Macon, after a sudden illness. He was a native of Tallahassee, Florida, and moved to Lyons in 1966. He was a 1976 graduate of Lyons Senior High, where played he in the Redcoat Band as first trumpet. Monty attended Georgia Southern in Statesboro, enlisted in the Air Force, and later transitioned to the Air Force Reserve, serving honorably for nineteen years as a Senior Master Sergeant. He worked as a civilian government employee at Robins Air Force Base for many years. He was a former member of the Marietta Free Will Baptist Church in the Blue Ridge Community in Toombs County and the First Baptist Church of Vidalia, and currently was attending Southside Baptist Church in Kathleen. He was an avid fresh water fisherman, and was preceded in death by his father, George C. Winge.

Monty is survived by his wife, Laura Yuly Winge of Kathleen; three sons, Trevor M. Winge and wife Nadia of Wiesbaden, Germany, Taylor J. Winge and wife Amanda of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, and George Paul Winge of Kathleen; his mother, Ora Moore Winge of Lyons; two sisters, Angelia W. Coleman of Waycross, and Terresa M. Winge of Lyons; two grandchildren, Sawyer J. Winge and Zachary V. Winge; and one nephew, Carson Coleman.

The funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 6th at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of Ronald V. Hall Funeral Home with Reverend Paul Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Glennville at 3:00 with Military Honors.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday morning from 10:00 until just prior to the service.
