Perry, GA- Following a courageous battle with cancer, Rodney Eugene Bridges went home to be with the Lord on October 10, 2018. Rodney was born on July 10, 1942, The son of Delton and Merle Bridges. Rodney was born in Albany and lived most of his life in Perry. He was preceded in death by his parents, Delton and Merle Bridges of Albany, brother Billy Bridges of Virginia, and brother Bobby Bridges of Washington.
After serving his country in the U.S. Navy, Rodney began a career in the pest control industry with Getz pest control which brought him to Perry. He later started his company Bridges Pest Control in 1979 where he worked for 33 years servicing customers throughout middle Georgia. Rodney was known for his trademark whistling while he worked. He took immense pride in his business that is still operated today by two of his three sons. Rodney loved to play golf and work in his yard. Some of his happiest times were when all his family was gathered together.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 54 years Nita Bridges of Perry. Children: Rodney Bridges Jr (TJ) of Perry, Richard Bridges of Perry, and Jason Bridges (Keely) of Winston-Salem, NC. Siblings: Delvin Bridges (Bonnie) of Sylvester, Mary Wilson (Bob) of Leesburg, Alex Bridges (Cyndi) of Mooresville, NC, Janice Sears (Tom) of Cordele. His six grandchildren were his greatest joy. Zachary, Courtney, Sara, Kate, Grace, and Caroline Bridges along with his beloved dog Ike.
Funeral services celebrating his life will be held on Monday, October 15, 2018 at 3:00 at Crosspoint Baptist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 1:30.
